Classification Web users:

Genre/form heading authority records that have been created at the Library of Congress for motion pictures, television programs and videos (MARC 21 tag 155) are now available for searching and display in Classification Web. The initial database contains only a small number of headings that were approved at the Cataloging Policy and Support Office weekly editorial meeting on September 5, 2007. New records will be added weekly, as they are approved and distributed. The search screen for these records is accessible by clicking the new "Genre/Form Headings" link on the Class Web Main Menu screen. Searches that are initiated from the "LC Subject Headings" link on the Main Menu will not retreive genre/form headings, and searches that are initiated from the "Genre/Form Headings" link will not retrieve topical headings tagged 150.

Full details about the Library of Congress project to create and apply genre/form authority records in the field of motion pictures, television programs and videos are available on the Library's Cataloging and Acquisitions Web site at
