PT905-PT906 should have been parenthesized, but were not. This will be corrected with tomorrow's update to Class Web.

The intention is that only those numbers that are NOT parenthesized are valid for use. All topics represented by parenthesized numbers are classed either in GR or elsewhere in PT. More explicit see references will be added with tomorrow's update to Class Web in order to make this clearer.

Subject: [Classweb-users] PT881-951

  Happy Friday,

I'm a bit perplexed by this array of numbers. In seeming accordance with the instruction at the head of the range, "For general works on folk literature, see GR", many of the numbers appear with parentheses.
However, many do not. For example, PT887 (History. Origins. Medieval...) is not bracketed, though PT889 (Modern) is. Confusing also is the instruction "For general works on folk literature", since most numbers for more specific topics are bracketed. Is the intent that *all* collections of/works about folk literature be classed in GR? If not, what is the intended distinction between those works appropriate for PT, and those for GR? This is not clear.

Thanks,
Casey

"Those who need structured and granular data and the precise retrieval that results from it to carry out research and scholarship may constitute an elite minority rather than most of the people of the world (sadly), but that talented and intelligent minority is an important one for the cultural and technological advancement of humanity. It is even possible that if we did a better job of providing access to such data, we might enable the enlargement of that minority."
