The Library of Congress is in the process of developing a new subclass, KBS, Canon Law of Eastern Churches. Classification numbers and captions for this subclass will begin appearing in Classification Web within the next few days. Users should be aware that these numbers are not yet approved, are not yet being assigned to bibliographic records at the Library, and are subject to change. A further announcement will be made by the Library when this subclass is in its final form and approved for use. At that time a new printed edition of KB, Religious Law, will also be published and will incorporate this new subclass. At the present time it is anticipated that it will be at least several months before KBS is completed and approved for use.

Reminders about the status of subclass KBS will soon appear on the Classification Web Main Menu screen and at the beginning of subclass KBS on the classification browse screen (above the number KBS3).

Users of Classification Web are advised not to assign numbers from subclass KBS to items in their collections at this time, since the subclass is preliminary and incomplete, and the numbers and/or captions may change as the development process continues.
