Classification Web subscribers,
The Cataloging Distribution Service (CDS) plans to move the
Classification Web subscription service to a commercial server on March
7, 2005. The new product URL will be http://classificationweb.net. It
will still be possible to access Class Web using http://classweb.loc.gov
but using the new http://classificationweb.net address will be faster
and more reliable over the long run.
In anticipation of the server move, CDS would like to invite customers
to try out the new server "free" from February 26 to March 7. To do
this, go directly to the http://classificationweb.net on February 26.
Until March 7 you will have a duplicate account on the new server and
twice the level of access. We encourage you to try all aspects of the
new server but be aware that any notes created on the new server before
March 7 will not carry over. After March 7 the LC server accounts will
be migrated to the new server and both URLs will be accessing the new
server.
Along with moving the Class Web product to an external server, CDS also
plans to move the Class Web support email and Listserv addresses to the
new server. Keep your eyes out for these new addresses when they become
available.
For both the Class Web product access and Class Web communications, the
ticket to faster service is going to be classificationweb.net.
